Joint Coastal Ocean Modelling Programme (JCOMP)

The Joint Coastal Ocean Modelling Programme (JCOMP) coordinates work at the Met Office and NOC on coastal-ocean (NEMO) configurations. Coastal-ocean configurations are used for operational ocean forecasting, storm surge modelling and climate projections with capability being developed for coupled atmosphere-sea-land configurations under the UK Environmental Prediction (UKEP) project.

The current focus is on physics modelling with a view to encompassing aspects of coupled ecosystem modelling in the near future. The management of JCOMP is along a similar lines to JOMP.
