Joint Ocean Modelling Programme (JOMP)

The Joint Ocean Modelling Programme (JOMP) coordinates work at the Met Office and NERC on a common global ocean (NEMO) configuration. JOMP is responsible for development and evaluation of global ocean configurations for operational ocean forecasting, seasonal forecasting, climate modelling and Earth System modelling. JOMP is overseen by a management group whose members represent the Met Office, NOC and BAS.

The scope of JOMP covers code development, configuration management and assessment (including Process Evaluation Groups). The objectives are achieved via joint workplans (agreed annually).
